The states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas share cultural traits, common threads, and even historical figures, all forming a collective history. The same applies to our built cultural heritage, which exhibits similar characteristics, materials, techniques, and forms across the five states. The architectural and artistic production of the colonial period is one of these threads that reinforce our regional identity.

In collaboration with various organizations and under the direction of the Secretariat of Culture of Coahuila, this book presents a panoramic overview of the diverse manifestations of tangible movable and immovable heritage in each state of northeastern Mexico. The collection of works in each state represents a personal selection by each specialist and author of the texts. It is a remarkable accumulation of layers, each from a different period, each containing unique and distinctive historical information, all of great value.
